Wabi, an AI startup founded by Replika creator Eugenia Kuyda, has raised $55 million at a $1.25 billion valuation as it develops a personal AI agent that can create custom applications and interfaces for everyday tasks. The funding follows the company’s recent transition from an AI-powered app creation platform to a messaging-based personal assistant.
According to Wabi’s funding announcement on October 29, the investment round was led by venture capital firm IVP. Other participating investors included Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Forerunner, and Amazon Alexa Fund.
The round also attracted several individual investors, including Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, former Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer, former Twitter CEO Dick Costolo, and Alex Pall of the electronic music duo The Chainsmokers.
Wabi Shifts From AI App Creation to Personal Assistant
Kuyda, who previously founded the AI companion platform Replika, initially developed Wabi as a service that allowed users to create applications through natural-language prompts. The startup secured $20 million in pre-seed funding in November 2025 for its original app creation platform.
In September 2026, Wabi introduced a redesigned experience called Wabi 2.0, shifting toward an AI-powered messaging interface. The updated service is designed to act as a personal agent that can generate custom interfaces and mini applications based on users’ requests.
Instead of requiring users to build individual applications manually, Wabi aims to create the tools needed to complete particular activities through conversation. The company says users could generate meal plans, track local restaurants, organize date nights, develop fitness routines, or create customized trivia games.
IVP Leads Funding Round With Major Technology Investors
Alex Lim, general partner at IVP, said Kuyda’s experience developing consumer AI products influenced the firm’s decision to invest. He described Wabi’s approach as an alternative to conventional AI interfaces that rely primarily on text boxes and command lines.
Wabi’s funding follows other recent investments in AI assistant startups. AI agent developer Instinct raised $1 billion at a $10 billion valuation in September, while AI companion developer Tolan secured $30 million in October.
Wabi’s service is available on iOS, Android, and Mac, with a Windows version planned. The company is developing shared AI assistance features that let multiple people coordinate activities and use customized applications within conversations.
