Northwood Space Raises $375 Million in Series C Funding at $2 Billion Valuation

Northwood Space has raised $375 million in a Series C funding round co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and DFJ Growth, valuing the satellite infrastructure company at $2 billion. The financing, announced on November 2, 2026, will support the expansion of its global satellite ground network, recruitment efforts, and delivery of existing contracts.

The round also included investments from Washington Harbour Partners, Alpine Space Ventures, Stepstone, and In-Q-Tel, among others. Northwood separately secured a multi-year credit facility from HSBC Innovation Banking to support working capital and network expansion, although the facility’s value was not disclosed.

Founded in 2022, Northwood Space develops antennas, software, and ground infrastructure that enable communication between satellites and Earth. The California-based company is led by co-founder and CEO Bridgit Mendler, a former actress.

The latest financing follows a $100 million Series B round in January 2026, which also involved Andreessen Horowitz. Around the same period, Northwood secured a contract worth nearly $50 million with the U.S. Space Force to upgrade its Satellite Control Network.

Northwood Expands Satellite Ground Infrastructure

Northwood reported several operational developments since its previous funding round, including the deployment of six multi-orbit ground sites across two continents. The company also demonstrated satellite command capabilities in geosynchronous orbit using its Portal phased-array antenna system.

Northwood manufactures two primary antenna systems, Portal for satellite command and control and Prism for high-throughput data transmission. Its software allows satellite operators to access shared ground infrastructure and schedule communication sessions without building dedicated ground stations.

The company said its modular infrastructure allows new ground sites to be deployed within approximately three months. Northwood also plans to establish sites capable of handling over 100 gigabits per second in high-demand regions by the end of 2027.

New Manufacturing Facility and Hiring Plans

Northwood opened a 185,000-square-foot headquarters and manufacturing facility in Torrance, California, in September 2026. According to the company, the facility expanded its manufacturing footprint by over five times and is designed to support the production of hundreds of antennas annually.

The company currently employs over 140 people and plans to create 400 additional jobs in Torrance and Washington, D.C., over the next three years. Recruitment will focus on radio-frequency engineering, manufacturing, software development, and ground-site operations.

Northwood has also secured additional contracts with U.S. government agencies, commercial satellite operators, and established space companies. The company expects to announce further ground-site and network expansions during the first half of 2027.
