Nothing is preparing to launch its first AI-native product in December 2026, marking a new development beyond the company’s existing smartphone and audio device lineup. CEO Carl Pei confirmed that the upcoming product will focus on productivity, operate without a new screen, and offer functionality that could not be delivered through a conventional smartphone application.
In a post on X on November 4, Pei described the upcoming release as a tool developed with the distinctive design approach associated with Nothing’s existing products. However, he did not disclose its name, physical design, technical specifications, or intended use cases.
Nothing Plans Its First AI-Native Product
Nothing has been developing its strategy around artificial intelligence, with Pei previously discussing the possibility of AI agents replacing traditional smartphone applications. He has suggested that future devices could use AI to interpret user intentions and carry out tasks without requiring people to navigate individual apps.
The company’s upcoming product appears to follow that direction, although Pei provided few details regarding its functionality. He emphasized that the device would not introduce another screen and could not simply exist as an application.
Pei also distinguished Nothing’s approach from other companies developing AI-focused consumer hardware. He referenced the industry’s interest in wearable devices such as smart glasses, pendants, pins, and AI companions, suggesting that Nothing is pursuing a different approach.
Rather than identifying the product as a wearable device, Pei described it as a productivity tool. His comments did not establish whether the hardware would connect to Nothing smartphones or operate independently.
Nothing Previously Discussed AI Glasses and Earbuds
The announcement follows earlier reports that Nothing was developing additional AI-powered hardware, including smart glasses and earbuds with integrated AI capabilities. In April 2026, reports indicated that the company was considering smart glasses designed to connect with smartphones and cloud-based AI services.
Pei had also discussed the potential for AI agents to replace conventional application interfaces as artificial intelligence becomes more capable of performing tasks on behalf of users.
Nothing currently sells smartphones, wireless earbuds, and other consumer electronics, with products recognized for their transparent design elements and distinctive visual interfaces. The company’s latest flagship smartphone, the Nothing Phone (3), was introduced in July 2025.
December Launch Details Remain Undisclosed
Pei has not announced an exact release date for the AI-native product beyond confirming its planned December arrival. The company has also not disclosed pricing, market availability, hardware specifications, or which AI models will power the device.
Nothing has not confirmed whether the product will incorporate its previously discussed smart glasses or AI-enabled earbuds. Pei’s announcement identifies it only as a screenless productivity tool that will introduce a different approach to interacting with artificial intelligence.
