Meta has made Muse Voice available to all users in the United States, introducing real-time voice and video-style conversations with customizable animated avatars powered by artificial intelligence. The feature, announced on November 5, 2026, allows users to speak with Meta’s Muse AI agent, ask questions, and request assistance with tasks through a conversational interface.
First introduced at Meta’s Connect developer conference in September, Muse Voice uses the company’s Muse Realtime Avatar and Muse Realtime Voice models to generate synchronized speech, facial expressions, and gestures. The technology is available on mobile devices, web browsers, and Mac computers, with support for additional hardware planned.
Muse Voice Introduces Customizable AI Avatars
The feature allows users to interact with an animated avatar called Jolly, which responds to spoken questions and instructions. Users can customize the avatar’s appearance, choosing designs resembling people, animals, or fictional characters.
According to Meta’s research announcement, Muse Voice generates expressions and gestures that correspond with the tone and content of a conversation. The avatar reacts to spoken input but does not visually observe users through their cameras.
Unlike conventional voice assistants that primarily provide spoken responses, Muse Voice incorporates animated characters intended to make conversations feel more interactive. The technology combines real-time speech generation with avatar animation to produce coordinated verbal and visual responses.
Meta chief AI officer Alexandr Wang demonstrated the feature in a video shared on X, showing an interaction with a Muse avatar resembling a fluffy white dog. During the conversation, Wang discussed his social media posts, while the AI agent responded with suggestions about avoiding potentially misleading interpretations.
Meta Plans Muse Charm Wearable Integration
Meta plans to extend Muse Voice to its AI glasses and an upcoming wearable device called Muse Charm. The Tamagotchi-like accessory, announced during Meta Connect in September, will feature a small display showing the animated AI avatar.
The device is expected to launch before the end of 2026, allowing users to communicate with Muse without relying on a smartphone or computer screen. Users will be able to speak directly to the agent, receive responses, and request assistance with supported tasks.
Meta has not disclosed the device’s pricing or confirmed an exact release date. The company also has not specified when Muse Voice functionality will become available on its AI glasses.
Meta Expands Consumer AI Features
Muse Voice follows Meta’s introduction of its consumer AI agent, which supports conversational assistance and task completion. The company recently reported that Muse had surpassed 10 million U.S. users, with shopping among the activities performed through the service.
The addition of animated voice interactions provides another way for users to communicate with the agent alongside existing text-based features. Meta has not announced when Muse Voice will become available outside the United States.
